Technology and tricks go hand in hand.

Early in my primary days, I’d stun my batchmates by magically disappearing the number from the calculator without the off button; boast my trick to retrieve IMEI number on my old Nokia Classic, and tilt the entire computer screen upside down.

As much as they astonished the local circles, they kept the “spirit of curiosity” high.

Since then, nothing has changed when it comes to discovering the new tricks — except the platforms.

Today, “virtual assistants and AI machines” being the “new age calculators and Nokia Classic,” I continue to track down the tricks to make my day a piece of cake.

And what better than finding out the trending tricks of Google Assistant — the Google-powered personal assistant working its way to reach the greatness of its contemporary — Alexa and Siri.

And why not?

Google-based android has a mighty market size of more than 86% by the end of the third quarter of 2018. [1]

With Android having captured the significant market share; the more we use these tricks, the better the assistance will become.

So, you can use “Ok Google intelligent assistance” for getting a range of things done in a matter of seconds, and if you can’t wait to check it — here’s the list.

  • Bypassing the password norms: Have you been entering swipe and finger patterns only to leave your trace on the screen? Is your friend too peepy to look for the PIN you enter? Get over all the password norms because Google Assistant is here to help you out with it. The intelligent personal assistant by Google lends ears to your voice command even when the screen is off. You can bypass all the password problems and unlock your phone using Ok Google Trusted Voice.
  • Accessing the application: With your love towards share market and politics, you wouldn’t want to miss out the critical notifications while you are bathing, washing your hands, or any activity which occupies your hands. Having Google assistant by your side, you can dilute the “Fear Of Missing Out.” You can access any application including email and news apps just by your voice command which will ultimately prevent your interest. Here’s the good news — with more voice searches and accessibility — you’d be able to minimize the screen touch time, thereby increasing the durability of the screen.
  • Filtering the calls: It’s not easy to be an introvert — you literally have to master the art for ignoring everyone. And not everyone’s expert with it. Furthermore, if you hate getting disturbed by the endless phone calls of telemarketers, you have no choice than to pick the number or check the number on the Truecaller application and manually block it. Google assistance via Pixel phones is in a fit state to do the same work — but with your speech. With the “Call Screen feature,” you can field Google to answer the callers on your behalf. Adding stars to its forte, Google displays the onscreen transcript which will define the purpose of the call. If the purpose doesn’t suit your requirements, you are safe to ignore. On top of that, you can “report the call as spam,” and live your life in servitude.
  • Searching images through voice: When your body takes a huge toll due to work pressure, what’s better than checking “memes,” “babies,” and “stress-busting content.” Instead of dragging your fingers to the search engine, and typing a long string-query; you may ask the smart virtual assistant to “show the pics of the babies,” and set your mood in no time.
  • Having a great birthday with Google Assistant: It’s your birthday, and your friends are getting on the nerves — thanks to their party monster attitude. With a lot of party options and constant pressure, you are dazed and confused, and you want to look for the nearby places which could satisfy their hunger and your ego. Making friends with Ok Google implies more sense because with the help of “Nearby Feature,” you can ask it to explore the nearest dining area which suits your tastes, mood, and budget. Just by a simple tap, you’d get access to rating, address details, maps, and related-restaurants which will make your birthday indeed a good one. Unleashing your “party-beastality” with Google is a different kind of fun altogether.
  • Spot your vacation spot: If you belong to the squad of “hashtag wanderlust,” and want to get good breathing space from office work; you’d need Google Assistant for spotting the next touring spot. You may simply ask “what’s the best vacation spot in Europe,” and get the clear insight by tapping the search result. In no time, you’d realize that the given powerful personal assistant is your virtual vacation planner. You can prune down the specifics of search results by merely asking “what’s the best time to tour Europe.” Get over those hefty-charging travel planners, and make Google your ultimate tour-advisor — more importantly without a cost.
  • Binge watching with Google: With “The Game Of Thrones” season springing curiosity worldwide, you would love to show off “know it all” attitude to your friends and companions about the show. Kicking back and enjoying the shows are way too easy with the Google-based virtual personal assistant. Call it a day for quiz books and newspaper sources for arranging your “set of questions.” Prepare a political quiz list by directly asking the assistant “Talk to political Quiz,” or set-up another sport quiz-paper by simply saying “Talk to sports quiz.” The assistant is kind enough to note down your score and give you briefings about it at the end of the quiz.
  • Planning your day: Enough of getting wet without the raincoat and UV attack without the sunscreen lotions. As you fail to plan your day, these things are uncalled for — especially when you are on the way for work. With Google assistant as your companion, you may plan your day before leaving your house. You can request it to give crucial information regarding the day to follow. By merely demanding “Ok Google, How will be the day like,” you can gain access to necessary details of the particular day, and based on that, you may carry raincoat if the clouds are to pour.
  • Making it your newsreader: It’s true that you can request Google to read the news from your favorite news source; howbeit, Google can do it daily for you. You can make it your permanent newsreader who’d give the insight daily. It’s of great help if you want the latest information regarding the local elections or your favorite baseball team. It’s so simple that by commanding “Good morning,” the assistant would reflect all the news regarding your local area, weather, and even remote locations. Don’t worry; it works completely fine even if you utter “Good afternoon,” or “Good evening” because Google knows what’s the current time.

By blurting “Ok Google, what did Nadal score yesterday,” you’d get access to old news which, in turn, assists you in connecting the past news with the present one. Going down to the specifics, you may press Google to deliver news on “Nadal’s score on 1st of April ’2019 at Monte-Carlo Open.”
  • Data for dating: She has finally said “yes” to your proposal, and you’re planning to arrange a date come this weekend. You hope that the weather cooperates for your romantic manifesto; however, you don’t have any idea about how the weather would behave this date. Yank out the Google Meteorologist from your pocket — Google Assistant — and let it manifest essential weather data for the date. You can probe an inquiry by calling “how will be the weather in the coming weekend.” Use necessary data for making your date — a quality one.

In the United States of America, Google has tied up with Fandango for benefiting its user to book an online ticket by the voice command. You may say something like “get the list of the movies at 7:30 pm.” You may check the listicle and proceed with booking one by saying “Ok Google, book two X-cinema’s seats for 12 Angry Men at 7:30 pm.” You can also collect the additional information like ratings and cast members of the movies by putting questions against the assistive device such as “who are the starring stars of the movie, etc.”

You may also access YouTube channels and songs by pumping orders like “Ok Google play ‘Wish You Were Here’ by ‘Pink Floyd’ on the PF channel in YouTube,” and give your trip a real psychedelic ride.

  • Answering Alzheimer with Google Assistant: How often do you forget shopping list given by your mom or your marriage anniversary? Google assistant responds to your Alzheimer (not literally) by remembering things for you. You can set essential reminders by feeding voice commands like “Ok Google, add Okra in the grocery list,” or “Ok Google, remind me about wedding anniversary on x date.” If in case you’d like to thank Google, it would say “That’s nice of you to say, you’re welcome.” Deleting the reminders is as easy as adding them. As easy as it gets — pull out your device and request the voice command “Ok Google delete all the reminders” for erasing the Google’s memory.
  • Making space in your brains: If your head gets stuffed with a lot of minute data like “where’s your passport,” “what’s your Amazon account password,” “where’s your car keys,” etc., your work is likely to suffer — credits to the overcrowded landscape of your brain. By solely asking it to remember these things, you can sweep out the dirt from your brain making extra space for work-efficiency. By resorting to commands like “Ok Google, remember my keys are on the first drawer of the left room,” you can cut the cake and have it too.
  • Waking up with a virtual assistant: It has to be one of the primary Google Assistant use cases. You already must have been setting the alarm via the smart virtual assistant by calling out “wake me up at 7 in the morning.” However, you can experiment a few more tricks with the same assistant by waking yourself up with the beautiful songs. By ordering the assistant to wake you with a good morning song, you can start your day with less irritating alarm tones. Get past your traditional alarm clock, and specify your favorite artist to wake up listening to them. You can be at the top of the range by triggering the dominos effect with your alarm clock. You may specify the intelligent assistant to read out motivational quotes or good news right after the waking event.
  • Taking Hamiltonian path theory to a whole new level: For the love of mathematics and Hamiltonian and Euler path; you should prefer the shortest route while journeying around the world or going back to your home. Google assistant respects your feeling — not just by words but by actions. You can deploy Google Assistant for searching the shortest path between point A and point B. Girding up your loins with Google assistant, the convoluted route between Zurich and Munich would be as easy as pie.
  • Carrying a conversation without a touch: Do you remember the sound of the “pressable buttons” of the old keypad phones while texting someone? Well, that’s an old story to tell if you are young; however, surface texting still demands your attention. With Google Assistant, you can read all the text messages by requesting it to display the latest messages using commands such as “Ok Google, read me the latest text message.” But that’s not it. Here’s the best thing since the sliced bread. You can conduct an entire conversation without having to touch the screen. By yelling out simple commands such as “Ok Google, compose a text or reply to the latest inbox,” you can convert your speech into text, and send it to your loved ones during driving, eating, etc.
  • Boarding into the flight seamlessly: Can’t wait to have a Starbucks coffee as soon as you board into the plane? Here’s the faster way to check-in to the flight. Google has partnered with United Airlines to give users a seamless check-in experience. Although the process is not entirely automatic, it still bears a high percentage of automation. By merely uttering “Ok Google, check me into the flight,” the device will immediately redirect you to the check-in page where you could select your seat space. If you have multiple-flight check-ins, you can store the flight date in the Google Calendar and by saying “Ok Google, get me checked-in on the 24th April flight” shall do the job for you. By the same Google token, you can book hotels through its associated partners such as AccorHotels, Mirai, Choice Hotels, Priceline, InterContinental Hotels Group, and Travelclick.
  • Cooking your date meal: You have orchestrated a date meal at your home. You want to impress your date by preparing the meal all by yourself. It can be dangerous if you are a neophyte. Howbeit, apart from setting Google Assistant as your chef-guide, you can set a timer for baking the cake. By voicing timer command like “Ok Google, set the timer for the cake for 2 hours,” you’d cook healthy food and love at the same time.
  • Pull through hundreds of TV channels: Sometimes, flipping through hundreds and thousands of channels or tens of grids is a real pain in the neck. The pain turns into a headache if you are a new user, and you don’t bear clear idea about the channel numbers. Escorted by Google Assistant, you can skim through thousands of channels in the twinkling of an eye. Having combined android TV and Virtual assistant, you can ask for the details of the shows. By merely putting something like “Ok Google, What channel shows Narcos,” or “Ok Google, what’s the timing for Hell’s kitchen,” you can enjoy your favorite TV shows without missing a second.
  • Change voice by a snap of fingers: Your Google assistant is versatile. If you’re bored of hanging on to male’s voice, you can switch it to female’s without changing much in the setting section. You may smartly question Google that “Ok Google, do you have another voice?” The answer is obviously yes. You would like to confirm another voice as it adds “human-like” variety to this personal assistant. So, it’s good to interact with the same system with the variant voices because that’s what brings humans close to the machines.
  • Light up when you are bored to death: When you have no one to talk, answer your messages or calls, and nothing to entertain; light yourself up with Google Assistant. You just have to let Google know that you are bored to death, and it will come up with the virtual circus for entertaining you. Declare in a clear tone — “Ok Google; I am bored. Please, do something,” and wait for it to react. It will come up with funny jokes, riddles, games such as tic-tac-toe, and it may also well suggest you videos with laugh riots. Another way of entertaining yourself is by asking bizarre questions such as “Hey Google, do you love Siri?” or directly pressing the home button and calling “Hey Alexa!” Wait for the response like “Very funny, Mike. I mean, not funny ‘ha-ha,’ but funny.” The weird your question, the more bizarre the answers.
  • Breaking the linguistic barriers: If the mother tongue of your spouse doesn’t match with the mother tongue of your mother; you are likely to be on the receiving end. The language barrier between the two may not allow the relationship to blossom and may prove detrimental even before laying the foundations for it. In the company of Google Assistant, you can break the linguistic barriers, and give relationships a chance to burst forth. The assistant can translate 188 distinct languages for you. By putting your voice query “Ok Google, translate Hello in Hindi,” you can decode any language on Earth, including the ones beneficial for your family. But the smart virtual assistant has so much to offer for the sake of you and your family. As Google has come up with the “interpreter mode,” the people with alien language can talk on the platform where it will translate your mother’s Hindi language into English, and your spouse’s English language into Hindi simultaneously.
  • Working fast on the calculator: Just as we began the segment with the calculator part, I’d end it with the same. Not everyone’s fast with calculating numbers — I think it’s the most overrated concept especially when Google assistant can do it for you. Get your hands over smartphone’s calculators or stop scribbling sheets for calculating large numbers. With a simple calculating command like “Ok Google, What is 27! (27 factorial), you can get the answer in the wink of an eye much before you know it. The current generation believes in pouring efficiency, and not to tire brains when machines are here to perform.

The way Google assistant has seeped into our lives, it’s fair to say that we’ll find a lot more uses cases in the future to come.

The good news is — if you are tired of repeating “Hey Siri,” you can use stand-alone Google Assistant application for the iPhone because Google Virtual Assistant has been made available outside Google’s product.
